Meet Sarah

Hello! I want to personally thank you for joining in on the fun of Que Sera Sarah. It’s my hope that we will be able to get to know each other a little better throughout this journey! //

I currently reside in Snohomish, WA (a suburb of Seattle) with my husband, Zach, our son Leo, and our two fur babies, Bootsie (our kitty) and Calvin (our goldendoodle puppy). Originally, we are from Wisconsin (Go Bucky and Go Pack Go!), but moved to the Seattle area for my husband’s job. We love life in the PNW! There are endless things to experience. From the city to the ocean, the desert to the mountains, there’s something for everyone. Since we moved to Washington, we have been taking advantage of the breathtaking hiking in the Olympic and Cascade mountains, beautiful national parks, proximity to other world class cities (Portland and Vancouver, Canada to name a couple),  and delicious cuisine. Before living in the PNW, Zach and I lived in Kansas City, MO. Truly a hidden midwest gem, we thoroughly enjoyed our time in this BBQ town! //

I worked professionally as a Registered Nurse until I was recently promoted to “Mom”. I had worked in the cardiac field since graduating from college. Most recently, I worked in a cardiac specialty field known as electrophysiology. I worked in a procedural lab with physicians putting in pacemakers, defibrillators, and performing ablations. I loved procedural nursing, especially the EP lab. Patients came to us with sometimes debilitating symptoms and left feeling significantly better. It was extremely rewarding! I loved being a nurse. It’s a rigorous, stressful, and demanding profession, but such a privilege. Everyday our patients entrust their lives to us; it’s incredibly humbling. But now, I’m learning the ropes of being a Mama to our sweet little boy, Leo. Given the pandemic, Leo’s exciting entrance into the world, and (really expensive) childcare options, staying home was the right choice for us. //

Nursing has created the perfect springboard into my journey in health and wellness. I love learning about more natural and preventative ways to optimize my health. I feel better when I move my body daily, whether through a HIIT (high intensity interval training) workout, lifting weights, going for a run, doing yoga, or going for a hike. Staying active reduces stress, increases endorphins, clears my mind. I also feel better when I eat well. I believe diets are too restrictive and set us up for failure. Zach and I live our lives with the belief that everything can be enjoyed in moderation. We indulge every now and again (I definitely have a sweet tooth!) but always come back to the basics: lots of veggies, seasonal fruits, quality proteins, and farmers markets. If you eat well, you live well! //

Zach and I love to travel. We have been blessed with many opportunities to explore the world together. We love taking time to invest in our relationship through discovering new places together. Some of our favorite travels include Napa, Door County (WI), Costa Rica, New Orleans, and Hawaii. Most recently, we traveled  to Switzerland and Italy to visit my little brother and his wife in Rome! One of my favorite things to do is plan our vacations. I research our destinations extensively so that we can make the most of our time (and money!) there! The spread of COVID-19 and the lingering delta variant has hindered many of our travel plans. We can’t wait to explore the world once it is safe again, now with little Leo in tow. //

Some of my other favorites: cuddles with Leo, oat milk lattes, classical music on Saturday mornings, Ben and Jerry’s ice cream, piping hot epsom salt baths, Wisconsin beer, fish tacos, workouts in our home gym, fuzzy socks, Mumford and Sons, and my Dad’s homemade spaghetti and meatballs. //

Have a beautiful day, friends! Thanks for being here 🙂
